Our service

Positive behaviour support (PBS)

What is PBS

PBS is based on a person-centred or person-in-environment framework to understand the causes of challenging behaviours engaged by participants. The goal of PBS is to develop relevant support strategies to reduce the intensity and frequency of those challenging behaviours. Challenging behaviours can include self-harm, physical aggression, absconding, verbal aggression, food gorging and so on. These behaviours are the result of an interplay between individuals and their environments, which means we need to better understand participants’ needs and reduce environmental triggers.

How does PBS work

As required by NDIS, we write the Functional Behaviour Analysis Report, Interim Behaviour Support Plan, and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan, including an analysis of challenging behaviours, preventative strategies, skill-building strategies, and responsive strategies to reduce challenging behaviours.

We provide family consultations, deliver training for support workers, and work with other stakeholders, such as schools, disability accommodation providers, and day program providers, to implement behaviour support strategies. We test and evaluate the efficiency of these support strategies and modify them accordingly.

We also provide direct services for participants, which depends on different behaviour support practitioners' knowledge and skill sets and participants' special needs. In Home Lover Connect, our practitioners use counselling and play therapy skills in their direct sessions with participants.

Positive behaviour support (PBS)

According to page 77 of the NDIS 2024-25 Pricing Guideline,

the hourly rate for PBS is $222.9 in VIC metropolitan areas.

If you don’t have the PBS funding in your NDIS plan, we can write a Functional Behaviour Analysis Report to help you apply for the PBS funding. We charge 15 hours in total under the Other Professional code item ($193.9) from your Capacity Building—Improved Daily Living funding, including collecting information from family, school, and other stakeholders, completing the report, and providing relevant support strategies.
